Our volunteer Independent Partnership Supporters (IPSs) encourage parents/carers and young people to be fully involved as partners in education. They can work alongside you to get the best possible outcomes: explaining, supporting and enabling.

An IPS can help you to:

  • Fill out forms
  • Prepare paperwork
  • Access relevant information
  • Explain procedures

And will:

  • Give emotional and practical support at meetings and hearings
  • Enable parents and young people to fully participate, which may include speaking on their behalf with their agreement
  • Make notes on behalf of the parent/young person

An IPS will not:

  • Give their personal opinion
  • Act as a representative
